Perth Park is one of Western Australia’s most significant public infrastructure projects in recent years. The $217.5 million WA Government development will transform the Burswood Peninsula into a new sporting, entertainment and community precinct, featuring landscaped parklands, a 12,000-person outdoor amphitheatre, multi-use track supporting cycling and an annual motorsport event, and improved connections with the wider Optus Stadium precinct.

Team West Soil and Water (WSW) are proud to be engaged as the Contaminated Sites Consultant for the project, supporting the early works and continuing into subsequent stages of delivery.

A broad and evolving scope

Our involvement in Perth Park has spanned a wide range of environmental services, reflecting the scale and complexity of the site. This has included groundwater and surface water monitoring to track environmental conditions across the precinct, environmental advisory services to support project decision-making, waste classification investigations to guide appropriate handling and disposal, and asbestos assessments to manage risks associated with historical site use.

As the project moves through its stages, our role continues to evolve alongside it, a reflection of the kind of long-term, embedded involvement that large public infrastructure projects demand.

A milestone for West Soil and Water

For WSW, Perth Park represents an important milestone in our growth. The opportunity to contribute to a significant, publicly funded infrastructure project has allowed our team to apply our technical capability, responsiveness and practical approach within a large and complex project environment.

Working on a project of this scale brings its own challenges, such as coordinating across multiple stages, adapting to evolving project requirements, and delivering technical advice that supports both regulatory compliance and practical decision-making. It’s also been a valuable opportunity to work alongside a broad project team, contributing to a development that will become a lasting part of Perth’s sporting and entertainment landscape.

Looking ahead

Perth Park is still taking shape, and West Soil and Water’s involvement will continue as the project progresses through its next stages. We’re proud of the role we’ve played so far in helping bring this vision to life, and we look forward to continuing our contribution as the precinct develops.

Projects like Perth Park are a reminder of why environmental consulting matters in the broader story of a city’s growth, not just as a compliance function, but as a genuine partner in delivering infrastructure that communities will use and enjoy for generations.
